Sense of humour is not how you make a joke on the other person, but how you take a joke on yourself.
The line is cliched but true.
Chandler isn't the funniest because he makes jokes on others, but because no one else makes better fun of him than his own self. The funniest stand up guys are the ones who keep making references to their own inabilities and problems.
The guy/girl who makes fun of his/her own self is the one who is the most comfortable with acknowledging his/her limitations and has accepted them. That unconsciously puts other people at ease and gets them laughing along. Self-deprecating humour will never get old.
And there's nothing that gladdens one's heart more than when you graciously accept that you've been roasted well.
A guy making ten jokes on everyone else around him and then butting in with a louder voice and a lame-ass repartee when someone else tried to roast him isn't a funny guy. He's just an ego-driven guy like so many others around.
Aching for the last word in every conversation doesn't make you a Chandler. Try and loosen up a bit. Take a joke every now and then. Laugh at yourself. It's nice.
